Monthly Wine Tasting

On the last Tuesday of every month we host a wine tasting evening where a different vineyard is selected and then is matched with and accompanied by food. These have been very successful and educational evenings.

The next tasting will be on the 28th of June with a staring time of 6.30pm. The winery chosen this month is Hawkes Ridge, a family owned and operated vineyard, winery and olive grove on the Ngaruroro river terraces, Hawke’s Bay.

Last month’s wine tasting evening of Mt Beautiful wine was a wonderful success, we would like to thank those who joined us on that evening of fun and new experiences!

Our talented Head Chef Regy worked closely with Niels, Tam, the other Gallery chefs and the winery to come up with a specifically selected array of foods to complement the wines served on the evening.

The Cheviot Hills Riesling 2009 was served with a decadent pear stuffed feta wrapped in prosciutto and puff pastry.

A Sisters Ridge North Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc 2010 was accompanied by oyster scrambled eggs on toasted English muffin topped with salmon roe.

The Mt. Beautiful Cheviot Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2009 was complemented by a pan seared scallop dish, served on Asian green salad and drizzled with lime hollandaise.

A beautiful Sisters Ridge Northern Canterbury Pinot Noir 2009 was served with a beautifully crafted Tuscan basted rib eye beef dish accompanied with roasted winter vegetables, blue cheese, walnuts and balsamic reduction.

The astounding Mt. Beautiful Cheviot Hills Pinot Noir 2009 was accompanied by a succulent peanut goat stew served in a kumara nest topped with smoked mushroom duxelle.

Come along and indulge your senses this chilly winter month in the charming, warm atmosphere of The Gallery Restaurant. Remember: bookings are essential!
